The Basics of Growing Bonsai Trees

Although bonsai trees do require constant care, feeding, maintenance and grooming to remain in good condition, it does not require a degree in horticulture to grow bonsai successfully. If you tend to it properly your bonsai may out live you. There are basic horticultural tasks which must be carried out, such as watering and pruning your tree. If provided, it will survive. However, there is a beneficial caveat, if you can carry out these same basic horticultural task with a professional touch, you will create a remarkably different response in the way your bonsai.
Just like all living things, bonsai trees require water, light, air, and nutrients to survive, grow, and blossom. The vast majority of ordinary garden plants come by these naturally. Bonsai are different, they are confined to relatively small containers which make them much more demanding. How you go about providing bonsai with their fundamental basic needs forms the basis of bonsai horticulture.
